POC4TRIAGE at EMS Congress 2025 in Stockholm

At EMS2025, the European congress for pre-hospital emergency care, our partners from UMC took the stage to present their ongoing research into stroke detection in the field. Maritta van Stigt introduced the POC4TRIAGE project and highlighted UMC’s work on using EEG as a triage tool for stroke in prehospital settings.

UMC plays a key role in developing and clinically evaluating two innovative devices for stroke diagnosis in ambulances. One of these is the subhairline EEG (shEEG) device, developed in collaboration with TrianecT and EURECAT. This technology aims to measure electrical brain activity (EEG) and diagnose strokes in the ambulance, before the patient reaches the hospital.
